Frequently asked questions

Plain answers about booking Pro.Chefs for event catering, a private chef or meal prep: pricing, ingredients, equipment, travel and dietary needs.

Booking

How do I book Pro.Chefs?

Send an enquiry through the booking form, call +254 746 508 421 or email sales@prochefs.co.ke. Every booking then follows five steps: tell us about your occasion, choose your preferences, our chef curates the menu, walk through the details and costs, and trust us to do our thing.

How quickly do you reply?

Pro.Chefs replies to every enquiry within one working day.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can. Tell us your date and we reply within one working day to confirm what is possible.

What if we need to cancel or change the date?

Call us and confirm in writing as soon as you can. Whether a booking can move depends on availability, and any charge depends on how much notice you give. Inside 48 hours, ingredients are bought, equipment is hired and the team is committed, so the booking is charged in full. Our Booking terms set out the details.

Ingredients and pricing

Who buys the ingredients?

Pro.Chefs sources the ingredients as standard. Buying them ourselves means we answer for the quality. The cost is set out in your quote and agreed before anything is bought.

How much does Meal Prep cost?

Meal Prep starts at 6,000/= per week or 10,000/= per fortnight, exclusive of ingredients. Ingredients are billed separately and agreed in your quote.

How are Event Catering and Private Chefs priced?

Event Catering is quoted per event, because the headcount, menu and service differ every time. Private Chef plans start at 5,000/= per day on a monthly plan, and one-off occasions are quoted on their own. Prices exclude ingredients. Your quote lists every cost before you confirm.

Are there costs outside the quote?

No. Ingredients, equipment and any travel are set out in your quote and agreed before anything is bought or hired.

Kitchens and equipment

Do you cook in our kitchen?

Usually, yes. Pro Chefs cook in your kitchen, on your equipment, and leave it cleaner than they found it. Where a venue has no kitchen, or cooking on site is not practical, we cook off-site and deliver to the venue.

Do we need a fully equipped kitchen?

No. Tell us what you have when you enquire. We source whatever else the occasion needs, from tableware to grills, and set it out in your quote.

Can you supply equipment without catering?

Yes, for large events. Pro.Chefs supplies tableware and equipment on its own for large functions. Send us the headcount and the date for a quote.

Do you clean up afterwards?

Yes, and we are a little offended you asked. Every booking ends with a full clean-down of the kitchen and service area. It is never optional.

Travel and coverage

Where does Pro.Chefs work?

Pro.Chefs is based in Nairobi and cooks wherever you are in East Africa.

Is travel charged?

Any travel is set out in your quote and agreed before you confirm.

Dietary needs

Can you cook for allergies or a medical diet?

Yes. Tell us when you enquire and the chef plans every dish around it. Allergy and diet instructions are followed to the letter.

Meal Prep

What does a Meal Prep session include?

A Pro Chef plans the menu with you, cooks in your kitchen, portions and labels every meal for the fridge, then cleans down.

Can we pause or change the cooking day?

Give us at least 48 hours’ notice and the session is not charged. We will offer another date, subject to availability. With less notice, the session and any ingredients already bought are charged in full, as our Booking terms set out.

Event Catering

What kinds of events do you cater?

BBQs, cocktail parties and family events such as birthdays, christenings and reunions, as well as larger functions. A full Pro.Chefs team, sized to the headcount, serves through the event.
